About Mental Cat Productions
Mental Cat productions ( www.mentalcatproductions.com ) was formed to house the collaborative efforts of Brian Shearer (www.brian-shearer.com) and Daniel Paris. Brian began his career in comics with his creator-owned book, GRAVYBOY and has since worked as a freelance artist on such projects as: DOCTOR WHO, MARVEL MASTERPIECES, SPIDER-MAN ARCHIVES, and THE DRESDEN FILES. Daniel served as the colorist on various GRAVYBOY issues before going on to co-found Mental Cat Productions. Both reside in Greensboro, NC.
We’ll be at the New York Comic Con in October. I’ll post our table number when I find out what it is.
I’ll also be hitting the Virginia Comic Con as well as the NC Comic Con in November and possibly Wizard World Atlanta.
Also, if you’re enjoying Vex feel free to spread the word via Twitter, Facebook, Passenger Pigeons, Skywriting, or however else you want given your resources and energy. Except, no mimes.
Mimes are creepy.
I made it back from SDCC in one piece. I think.
I’ll let you know for sure when I’ve caught up on sleep and finished unpacking.
I meandered about all week talking to people and wishing I had saved up a little more money for the show. Note to self for next year: bring more money. I didn’t see as many celebrity types as usual. They were there, but I was somewhere else apparently. I did see some fantastic statues and figures, especially from Sideshow.
Chapter 1 of Vex finishes up this week and Chapter 2 begins on Monday. Thanks for reading!
With chapter one well under way we’ve had several requests for more frequent updates. So starting next week Vex will be updated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
We’re also considering having the entire issue available for purchase, if you’re really really impatient and just want to go ahead and find out what happens. More info on that in the coming weeks.
If you’re enjoying the story don’t forget to spread the word, link to us, or purchase a giant billboard on a well-traveled freeway with the link plastered over it. We’ll be eternally grateful.
Thanks for reading!
This book is not about basketball. We promise.
Brian will be at Heroescon in Charlotte in June. Look for the banner with the Vex cover (set up with the Tsunami Studios guys.) He’ll be doing commissions as well as selling non-Vex related prints.
Thanks for reading!
We hope you’ve enjoyed the first week of Vex.
New pages go up every Tuesday and Thursday, so check back here next Tuesday or subscribe to our RSS feed.
